For those seeking raw, untamed wilderness, Wasgamuwa delivers. This remote park combines Sri Lanka’s highest elephant density with rarely-seen sloth bears and leopards. Rugged dirt tracks wind through ancient reservoirs and grasslands where wildlife roams freely, far from tourist crowds.

The park contains 2,000-year-old irrigation tanks and is said to be where King Dutugemunu gathered war elephants for his historic battle.
